Every Bronco build starts with the same question nobody wants to guess at: what does this cost, start to finish? Here's a full breakdown across three build levels, using current prices rather than vague ranges.
In This Guide
Tier 1: Light Armor and Lighting
This is the entry point for owners who want trail protection without committing to a full bumper swap yet. It covers the parts most likely to take a hit on moderate trails, plus a fog light upgrade.
Trailing arm skid plates cost $134.99. Rear shock guard skid plates cost $134.99. A rear differential skid plate is priced at $296.99. Morimoto's XB Evo fog lights cost $199. That's a total of $765.97, all of it bolt-on work most owners handle themselves in an afternoon.
Tier 2: Trail-Ready Build
This tier adds serious bumper and recovery hardware on top of everything in Tier 1, the point where a Bronco stops being stock underneath and starts being built for regular trail use.
A DV8 steel front bumper costs $899.99, and a matching rear bumper adds another $899.99. DV8's FS-15 rock sliders for a 4-door cost $1,099.99. A DV8 12,000-pound steel cable winch is priced at $656.99, paired with an Xtract fairlead at $224.99 and a pair of Elite Series D-ring shackles at $89.99. Added to the Tier 1 total, this tier's running total lands at $4,637.91.
Tier 3: Full Overland Build
This tier rounds out the exterior with cargo capacity, tail light and fender upgrades, and supplemental lighting beyond the factory fog lights, the point most owners consider their Bronco done, or close to it.
A 4-door hard top roof rack from DV8 costs $899.99. Morimoto's XB tail lights (smoked lens set) cost $619. Turn Offroad's steel fender flare kit is priced at $649.99. A DV8 steel front skid plate, replacing the lighter-duty option, adds $404.99. A 4Banger ditch light kit starts at $527. Added to the Tier 2 running total, a fully built-out Tier 3 lands around $7,738.88, depending on which specific finish and tier options you pick within each category.
What These Totals Don't Include
Suspension and tires aren't in any of these totals, since pricing there swings enormously based on lift height, tire size, and whether you're running a Sasquatch or non-Sasquatch build to start. We break down the full leveling-kit-versus-lift-kit-versus-long-travel decision, along with specific component costs, in our suspension and lift kit guide.
Interior accessories, molle panels, seat protection, and cargo organization also aren't factored in here, since those add-ons vary so widely by personal priority that a single number wouldn't mean much.
Install Labor if You're Not DIYing
Every part listed above ships with the hardware needed for a bolt-on install, and most of this work is doable in a home garage with basic tools. The two jobs that genuinely benefit from a second set of hands are the front and rear bumper swaps, since a full-width steel bumper commonly weighs 65 to 120 pounds and needs to be held in position while the mounting bolts start. If you're paying a shop instead of DIYing, budget for labor on top of the parts total above, since none of these prices include installation.
FAQ
How much does a basic Bronco build cost?
A light armor and lighting build lands around $766 using current pricing on skid plates and fog lights alone, before any bumper or suspension work.
How much does a trail-ready Bronco build cost?
Adding front and rear bumpers, rock sliders, and a winch setup on top of a light armor build brings the running total to roughly $4,638, not including suspension or tires.
Why isn't a lift kit included in these totals?
Suspension pricing varies too widely by lift height, tire size, and whether you're starting from a Sasquatch or non-Sasquatch build to fit into a single flat number. Our dedicated lift kit guide covers component costs by height and setup.
Do these prices include installation?
No. All figures are parts cost only. Most items are DIY-friendly with basic tools, though full-width steel bumpers benefit from a second person during install.
