Fitment

This skid plate is built by Addictive Desert Designs for the Ford Bronco Raptor, covering the 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 model years. It covers the underbody area the factory skid plate can't reach once either bumper is on, and it's designed to pair with the Rock Fighter or Bomber Raptor front bumpers rather than working as a standalone piece bolted to the factory bumper. Owners running one of those two front bumpers on their Raptor are the intended fit for this plate; it isn't designed to bolt to the factory front bumper on its own.

Design

The plate is cut from 3/16-inch aluminum alloy and finished in a satin black powder coat, a lighter and more corrosion-resistant material choice than an equivalent steel plate would be. That weight savings matters at the front of a Raptor, where every added pound ahead of the front axle affects handling more than the same weight would further back in the chassis. The satin black finish is chosen to complement the hammer black powder coat used on the Rock Fighter and Bomber front bumpers it's built to pair with, so the underbody doesn't look mismatched from the rest of the front end once it's installed.

Weight and Handling

Aluminum is a deliberate choice here rather than steel. A skid plate at the front of the truck sits ahead of the front axle, so its weight has an outsized effect on how the nose of the truck responds during hard braking or quick direction changes on the trail. Choosing 3/16-inch aluminum alloy over an equivalent steel plate keeps that added weight down without giving up the coverage the plate is meant to offer.

Protection

Aluminum alloy at this thickness is built to absorb impacts from rocks and trail debris without deforming, holding up to hits that would crack a thinner factory plastic skid. It shields the components sitting just behind the front bumper, covering the section of the undercarriage most exposed to rock strikes on technical trails and low-speed rock crawling. The satin black powder coat finish also protects the plate itself from road salt, corrosion, and rust over time, which matters for a part mounted low enough to take on spray from wet or salted roads during the winter months. High-grade aluminum alloy at 3/16-inch thickness holds up to repeated trail use rather than needing replacement after the first hard hit.

Installation

Installation is fully bolt-on, with no cutting or welding required, and it's designed to go on in well under an hour once the Rock Fighter or Bomber front bumper is already in place. The mounting points line up with the bumper's own hardware, so no additional drilling into the frame or bumper structure is needed.
