Ditch Lights: What They Are and Where They Mount
Ditch lights mount at the factory A-pillar point near the windshield rather than in the bumper, using stainless steel brackets that bolt to a mounting point built into every trim. That's what makes ditch lights fit every Bronco regardless of bumper style, including the Raptor, unlike fog lights.

Are Ditch Lights and Pod Lights the Same Thing?

The 2Banger, 4Banger, and BigBanger kits are categorized under Pod Light in the catalog, since a ditch light kit is a pair or more of individual LED pods sold with the brackets and harness needed to mount them at the A-pillar. "Ditch light" describes where the pods get mounted. "Pod light" describes what the light itself is. Shopping for either term lands on the same three kits.
Beam Patterns and Street Legality
Every ditch light kit offers four beam patterns, and which one gets picked changes what the light is legally allowed to do on the road. SAE Wide is independently verified as SAE-F compliant, meaning it can serve as a legal fog light when mounted and aimed correctly. Combo and Spot meet SAE J581, the standard for an auxiliary high beam, which most states treat as off-road or supplemental equipment rather than something to run during normal street driving. Flood carries no street certification and is built for camp or work-light use instead.
Pod Tiers: NCS vs HXB
Each kit offers two performance tiers, priced differently and named for lumen output rather than a chip brand. On the 2Banger, NCS pods put out 900 lumens per pod and HXB pods put out 2,000 lumens per pod, sharing the same housing, optics, and mounting hardware either way. The 4Banger and BigBanger scale that same NCS-versus-HXB choice up to their own pod counts and lumen ratings.
Fog Lights vs Ditch Lights: Key Differences
The two products solve different problems more than they compete for the same one. Fog lights replace an existing bulb in the factory bumper opening and only fit Standard and Capable bumper trims. Ditch lights add pods at the A-pillar and fit every trim including the Raptor. Fog light output tops out around 1,500 raw lumens per side; even the smallest ditch light tier puts out more than that per pod, and the largest kit reaches thousands of lumens per pod before beam pattern factors in at all. Fog lights carry a ten-year warranty. Ditch light kits carry Morimoto's lifetime warranty.
What About Light Bars?
Light bars are a separate product family from fog lights and ditch or pod lights, sold as one fused bar rather than individual pods.
