What Tire Size Comes on a Ford Bronco?
Factory tires range from nominal 30 inches on the 2026 Base to 37 inches on the Bronco Raptor. The precise size depends on model year, trim, and optional packages. The tire information label on the driver's door jamb identifies what your vehicle was built to use; check the actual tire sidewall because a previous owner may have changed it.
What Tire Size Does Each 2026 Bronco Trim Use?
Ford's 2026 technical specifications list these factory diameter and wheel combinations. Optional equipment can change the tire fitted to a given trim.
- Base: 30-inch tires with 16-inch wheels as standard; certain Sasquatch packages add 35-inch tires.
- Big Bend: 32-inch all-terrain tires on 17-inch wheels; optional rugged-terrain and Sasquatch configurations change the tire.
- Outer Banks: 32-inch all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels as standard; optional Sasquatch brings 35-inch tires.
- Badlands: 33-inch all-terrain tires on 17-inch wheels as standard; optional Sasquatch adds 35-inch tires.
- Heritage Edition: 35-inch rugged-terrain tires with the factory Sasquatch equipment.
- Stroppe Edition: 35-inch rugged-terrain tires.
- Raptor: 37-inch tires on 17-inch wheels.
These are the 2026 combinations. Do not assume a 2021–2025 Big Bend, Black Diamond, Wildtrak or Heritage model has an identical factory wheel-and-tire package.
What Are the Exact Bronco Tire Size Codes?
The common factory size codes include 255/70R16 on earlier Base configurations, LT265/70R17 on many Big Bend setups, LT285/70R17 on Badlands, LT315/70R17 with Sasquatch and 37x12.50R17 on Raptor. For a 2026 Base, use its own door sticker rather than buying 255/70R16 based solely on a historical Base listing. Exact codes and tire brands can change by year and options.
How Have Bronco Tire Sizes Changed?
On earlier model years, Base trucks commonly used 255/70R16 tires; Black Diamond used 265/70R17, Badlands typically used 285/70R17, and Wildtrak came with Sasquatch-size 315/70R17 tires. But Ford has changed and discontinued trims and added packages since launch. For example, 2026 Outer Banks uses an 18-inch wheel on its standard 32-inch tire package, so buying a replacement 17-inch tire based on a generic 32-inch diameter guide would be wrong. The door placard and the factory build sheet settle the question for an individual truck.
What Do the Numbers 285/70R17 Mean?
In 285/70R17, 285 is section width in millimeters, 70 means nominal sidewall height is 70% of that width, and 17 is wheel diameter in inches. Calculated diameter is approximately 32.7 inches. A 265/70R17 calculates to roughly 31.6 inches, while a 315/70R17 is approximately 34.4 inches. Those are dimensional estimates; use each tire maker's actual diameter and approved wheel-width range when comparing replacements.
Is a 315/70R17 a 35-Inch Tire?
It is sold as a nominal 35-inch tire, but the arithmetic gives approximately 34.4 inches unloaded: 17 inches of wheel diameter plus twice the sidewall height (315 mm × 0.70 ÷ 25.4). Mounted diameter changes with tire design, load and inflation. Compare manufacturer-measured dimensions when matching a spare or deciding whether a tire fits a particular bumper or suspension.
What Size Tires Come on a Sasquatch Bronco?
Sasquatch-equipped full-size Broncos commonly use LT315/70R17 tires. Alongside the tire diameter, Sasquatch includes suspension and drivetrain equipment that matters for fitment. Simply installing 315s on a non-Sasquatch Bronco does not provide the same steering stops, clearance or gearing. Verify the complete build before installing factory-sized Sasquatch tires on an earlier non-Sasquatch model.
Can a Stock Bronco Fit 35s or 37s?
A factory Sasquatch Bronco is engineered for nominal 35-inch tires. Other Broncos can require changes to crash bars, wheel offset, suspension, and clearance at full lock and compression. A Raptor's 37-inch fitment does not mean 37s bolt onto a standard Bronco. Check tire-to-control-arm, fender, bumper and spare-carrier clearance before buying, then address speedometer calibration and drivetrain load. I would not buy new wheels simply to fit a 285/70R17 tire on a 17-inch-equipped Badlands unless I had a deliberate reason to change offset. Conversely, a standard 18-inch Outer Banks wheel cannot mount a 17-inch Sasquatch tire: that requires a matching 17-inch wheel.
How Do You Check Tire Size?
Read the full tire code from your existing sidewall, the factory placard, and the wheel diameter. Also confirm wheel width, bolt pattern, center bore, offset, tire load rating and spare clearance.
